Dear friends,
Summer is here! Isn’t that great! We all look forward to these warmer
months where we are reminded of why we love living in this part of the
world. We are getting outside more and doing the things we love, whether
it be gardening or going to a baseball game. We aren’t afraid to travel
and we hit the roads to see family, friends and the sights we enjoy
seeing. Obligations slow down but our pace of life doesn’t seem to. We
like being busy and it is fun to do the things we enjoy so much.
This summer we have some fun things to do. We will be going to a B-Mets
baseball game as a family on July 23 The Fellowship Committee secured
seats at a very good price of $5 per ticket! Contact Carol Fuller to buy
your tickets to this event. One of my favorite events of the summer is
Vacation Bible School. This will be taking place the week of July 12 Joy
Trudell and Lisa Weyant can always use a little more help so give them a
call, even if you can just give them one evening. Invite your neighborhood
children to attend. You never know how you might change a life for the
Good by inviting them to Church!
Don’t forget, too, that we are maintaining our regular schedule through
the summer. 8:30 in the air- conditioned chapel at Conklin, 9:30 at the
Broad Ave. Chapel and 11:00 in the sanctuary. We have eliminated many of
your excuses for not attending. “It’s too hot!” — the air conditioning in
on! “It’s too early!” 11:00 is your best bet. “I’ve got someplace to go
and I don’t want to wait until after the 11:00 service” — you’ve got two
great options 8:30 and 9:30! And for those of you, who enjoy the upbeat
and informal, the Second Sunday Celebrations continue on July 11 and
August 8 at 9:45 in the air-conditioned chapel!
Remember to keep up on your pledges to the general fund and the
building fund. Our expenses as a congregation do not stop in the summer
months! Our commitments to the bank, the utilities, staff, missionaries,
and so on do not stop because we are traveling!
In all cases, my prayer is that the summer of 2010 is the best ever for
each of you!
In Christ’s love,
