Dear friends,

The Christian faith has always been one which marches against
the stream of the world. We always seem to be hearing Jesus
telling us to do the opposite. If you want to be the greatest of
all, you must become the servant of all. If you want to gain, you
must learn how to give. The list goes on and on.

So it is that as the world around us is looking at the month of December as a conclusion, we in the Church are looking at it as a new beginning. The Christian calendar begins its new year with the season of Advent. It is the recognition that the birth of Jesus was the pivotal moment in the history of humanity. God With Us allows us a second chance - a new beginning.

We have so many wonderful traditions in the life of the Church that we excitedly look forward to each year. Events that mark our lives and remind us that God is still in control in spite of all outward appearances. This newsletter is full of opportunities to rejoice quietly, jubilantly, with our hearts, with our voices and with our hands. I hope and pray that you will take advantage of all the chances you are given to celebrate during this season of Advent and Christmas.

We all need new beginnings. We all need a mulligan. The Birth of the Babe of Bethlehem is the ultimate in second chances for the world and for you and me.
