As I am sitting at my desk writing this little note to you, outside it is unseasonably warm. Last night Debby and I sat on our deck visiting at 9:oo p.m. and we weren’t chilly. Sunday night we picnicked with s mores and everything well into the evening and didn’t even wonder where our coats were. It is still April and we hit 90 degrees! Life is a little out of kilter!

But then the question comes: when is life in kilter? When are things normal? The reality is that everything is constantly changing. As one wise person said, “You can never stand in the same river twice.” As much as things may appear to be unchanging they are indeed always changing.

As Christians we have a wonderful blessing in the knowledge of God’s unchanging Love. Scriptures remind us that Jesus Christ is the same today as yesterday and will be to morrow. Someone once referred to Jesus as the still point in an ever-changing world. He is that rock that we can stand on that never moves.

We have seen a lot of changes in our life as a congregation over the past ten years. Some major, some minor. We have gained new family and we have lost people dear to us. Programs have been tried and done well and others have fallen by the wayside. It is always challenging to be the Church. We have a timeless message that needs to be communicated in a timely manner. The status quo can never serve us well because of the rapid changes, which are taking place all around us.

I am grateful to God that He is that steady point for us as we seek to be faithful followers of Jesus Christ in an ever-changing world.
