April Newsletter

Dear friends,

It astonishes me that we always try to make things fit. I try to get myself into that pair of trousers that I always liked wearing. I am sure they still fit because I certainly must weigh the same that I did way back when I bought them. They are a bit snug shall we say and I better not bend over or even sit down in a chair but they really do fit.

We want everything to be just as we imagine it ought to be. I ought to weigh many pounds less than I do but wishing isn’t going to make it reality. Imagining it isn’t going to make it the truth.

As human beings we have this desire to make everything fit. But it can’t always be so because we can’t fight the ultimate truth. Easter is one of those events that we human beings try to make fit. I have listened to so many attempts to explain the inexplicable. Jesus never really died He just passed out on the cross and came to in the tomb. Jesus never really rose from the grave — His memory was empowered in the disciples and they turned the world upside down because of those recollections. The machinations of imaginations to ex plain logically and reasonably why we celebrate Easter are seemingly endless.

But the truth is what the truth is. Jesus rose from the grave. Death has been conquered. We are promised a resurrection like His. It may not be logical. It may not fit our ideas of how things work but it is truth and it is good news.

Come celebrate together that some things just don’t fit. The good news of Easter is too big to fit in our little minds. Isn’t it great that God is so much bigger than we? Jesus Christ is risen! Plain, simple and unfathomable: now that is great news!!

In Christ’s love,
